About me

I am born and brought up in Mumbai. I always wanted to be a painter and had a strong desire of learning the Classical art for which I had joined Esteemed ‘Sir J J School of art, Mumbai’ which is the most respected institutes in India. It gave me a perfect path to reach my artistic goals.

My small contribution in the art world starts with my books which are published and sold by a well-known name ‘Jyotsna Prakashan’. You can find those books here

STATEMENT:

Sir J J School of art has the 150-year-old history of portraiture which is my primary source of inspiration. As a student, I practiced portraiture and developed my knowledge of academic art. Simultaneously I continued reading which increased my maturity as an artist. by the time I completed my Bachelor's degree, I was so sure that I want to paint the Human form; hence I completed my Master's degree in Portraiture. In these two valuable years, I devoted time to exploring human form. As a result, I excelled in my subject and my work also got admired by the recognized art organizations like 'Art Society of India' and 'the Bombay Art Society' and 'Sir J. J. School of Art', which gave me the platform and confidence to stand as an artist.

After completing my masters I continued drawing and painting in the traditional way. I had also jotted several notes during study period about my thought process and learning. I decided to compile those notes, drawings, and sketches in the form of book which was the more suitable and profound way of expressing my thoughts on study. In this process I kept learning and exploring my ideas of painting. Till now I understood that we always manipulate nature to create. ‘Nature’ is the ultimate source of inspiration to the artist. Even if we draw a non–representative form it somewhere resembles with the things we see in nature. According to me our present is the result of our past and it will always contain some ashes of the past. What I am now is the result of whom I was in the past. With each passing moment we are creating past hence we need to ensure that we pass this particular moment with total awareness. I compare my idea of painting with this thought. I express myself with the Human form…I enjoy the spontaneity and directness. The fluidity of line and forms has more importance in my drawings and paintings. I believe painting should reflect one’s own persona, attitude towards life and experiences. Just like a writer expresses a thought with his words and Language similarly a painter expresses the visual with his medium and form.

Style or a form of painting is what we are. It is made of our likes, dislikes and experiences. It is something that is already exists within. We just have to explore ourselves to discover our style. We cannot get it from outside; thus, the painting or any art is nothing but to discovering our identity.
